Arrivé Lyon-Chambery-St Piérre Albigny

Bonjour le monde,
We arrived successfully in France!!  Caught the TGV (very fast train- 240+km) from Lyon to Chambery.

Serge, picked us up from the train station. We visited a couple of local stores (including the French Bunnings).

St Piérre Albigny is a beautiful little town (photos to prove this will follow soon). It is tucked in a circle of mountains with views to the snow capped French Alps.

Sue and Serge cooked hachi parmentier (a traditional Savoie dish- mashed potato, onion and minced beef). Before the main meal we had an aperitif ... white wine with berry crême(blackberry, cherry and violet)... one could get used to these!!!  After the main meal we shared some local breads and cheeses.... with some red wine.  The bread (baguetté) from the bakery across the street (15 paces away) was beautiful.

Slept very well and woke up rested.... opened the windows to view the Alps.  St Piérre Albigny is beautiful!!

Heathrow Airport

After 13+ hours on a plane... having a shower... priceless!

Heathrow is massive.  Seemed like a 20 min bus ride from terminal 3 to terminal 5.

Useless trivia... the British key board has the £ symbol [shift 3]... I had to go looking for the @ symbol [shift '].  How inconvenient for typing email addresses!

BA Lounge at Terminal 3 is great! Sad to say... they put Qantas to shame!

Karen is still sewing!

Movie count: now up to 4!

The Last Three Days   ***1/2
The Way Back           ***1/2
Love and Crime         ***
Gulliver's Travels        *     (oh, the shame!)

At Singapore Airport

Singapore is still one of the best organised and cleanest airports I have ever been in.
First 7ish hours down!
Watched a couple of films on the way.  Karen got some sewing done.

The next flight is the cruncher 13+ hours... I hope BA are good!  Really need to get a good sleep on this leg of the journey.

At the airport

Checked in, through customs and comfortable in the Qantas Club.  Quote from Karen "its good that you (Peter) are a Frequent Flyer, if I get to share all the benefits... maybe its not so bad you travelling so much".

Big decision time... the red or the white!

Cannot say I am looking forward to 24+hours of flights/stopovers!
